Military trains

  • Does anybody know of a quality book, video or web site that illustrates American railroads hauling U.S. military vehicles and equipment? I am interested in World War II era and modern day footage.

I am also searching for an N-scale DODX 6-axle heavy duty flat car. Does anyone know of a manufacturer?

  • My son was with the 101st airborn, when they were sent to Iraq the Army besides useing DODX flats also used TTX 89' flats.
  • I see a lot of military equipment move on the TTX flats - most if it, in fact. Add to that the containers they use for other materiel and you have a train. The only time you will see the heavy DODX flats is under armor. I have seen some DODX flats that closely resembled the TTX flats - painted either red or green.
