VIRUS -- Boo Hiss Yuck Yuck

  • I just spent most of the last 24 hours trying to get rid of a computer virus and some "undesirible programs". I don't have a clue where they came from. I have a personal firewall and virus protection but still managed to get a "bug". I lost all the pics everyone has sent me. [:(!] [V] [:(] I also lost all of "My Favorites". [:(] [:(] [:(]

Funny thing is I think I actually got the "bug" from a disk of pictures I picked up when they were developed. I sent out some of the pics but people were telling me that their virus protection program would not let them open the pics. I didn't have any problems until then.

I hope you all don't have this type of problem, it is no fun. [V] [:(]

    Thanks, Don. [:D]

I will. I am loading disk slowly and doing virus scans trying to determine where the virus came from. I may never really find out but I am trying. I had over 75,000 files saved. Now with the disk reformatted down to about 35,000 or so. The virus scan goes much quicker with fewer files.
  • Jim: I had a client who was a big hospital and they had some setting in their computer system so that a diskette that we brought over to them had to be scanned before we could read it on their system. I never managed to ask them what the program/setting was.
