Favorite Roadnames?

  • SEABOARD COAST LINE "Planning a trip, or planning to ship? Plan on SEABOARD COAST LINE!" As a young boy riding in the car with my parents driving on US 301, before the interstate was built these billboards were all along the road. They were orange with black letters, SCL is tops in my book!
  • The Soo Line Railroad Company is my Favorite Roadname.

It had been shortened to the SOO in practice, but somewhere the full name was applied.

The original Minneapolis, St. Paul & Sault St. Marie did end up at all those cities.

SOO is a U.S.A. phonetic spelling of the apparently French word Sault.

The SOO LINE is more bold than the Sault Line, which looks like it should be transformed into the Salt Line. I have never heard of a railroad called the Salt Line, have you?

Stop by Gladstone and St. Ignace when you are in the Upper Pennisula.

Least fovorite: The UP - they've been gobbling up TOO many of their competitors. I also prefer for US railroads to remain in US hands not Canadian. How many roads in Canada are owned by US companies?

I couldnt agree more (with the US/CAN topic)

CN can go back to its unstable self in Canada instead of being in there prime in the US, at the cost of 2 great roads!

    WISCONSIN CENTRAL LIMITED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Max, may i ask what state of mind you were in when you wrote this? Your last railroad, is, well, is just a monster, and not a CLASSY railroad by any means. Hunter should be shot, with his little IC friends too.
