Hunters only!

  • I've seen everything from autos to politics discussed on this forum, now it's time to talk hunting. For reasons outside my contol, I must not reveal my real identiy just yet. I can tell you that I am 14 years old, and have been an avid outdoors man since I was 7 years old. I own a Marlin .22 for rabbit/squerril (spelling), a Winchester pump 20 ga. for birds, a Remington 12 ga. for trap, a Ruger .22-240 for varmints, and a Savage .243 for deer. I also love to camp and go hiking. All you other hunters come on in, the camp fire is roarin' and I got some fresh coffee off of the fire. Let's sit around and talk about the great outdoors and all of the adventures that they have provided us with, be they huntin', fishin', or just campin'.

  • This is trains.com, thus the topic should be about trains. One would have thought the name alone would have been enough to make this clear.
  • No one seemed to complain about the football topic that was on here. It had well over twenty hits in no time.
  • remember when the union pacific was first finished. it was popular to shoot buffalo from the moving train. i guess those days are long passed. buffalo tend to avoid railroads now.

i can remember hunting desert bighorns on land owned by the southern pacific railroad. it said so on the topo map; every other square mile had their name on it. i wonder if they remember if they still own it? desert bighorns are not to be shot; the trick with hunting them is to count coup by getting close enough to them to pinch off a bit of their fur. this is not as easy as it sounds.
  • Wow thats even more of a challenge!! Specially if they are mad and your on their turf! but have my sheep shears so lets go!
BTW Pennfan dont let em get to you. Some these old grumps post off topic stuff too. Whoops this one looks to be a young grump. Oh well he dont like it he can take his bal and go elsewhere.

Yes we are on time but this is yesterdays train

  • Hey routerock, shut it will ya. jeez
This IS a train forum and just because the generall discussion area has some off train threds doesnt mean it is generally ok.
This doeasnt have anything to do with trains and really shouldnt be here. Go find a hunting forum and post tis.
This forum is not to be used a chatroom to tlak about evrything. It is a place to discuss trains. Now I am all for having some side discussions about things, but this is REALLY off topic.
Talk about this in the teen railfan group if you like.
The football topic had relevance to trains. Many lines run special Super Bowl Weekend trains. This hunting thread has absolutyl nothing to do with it at all!
And it looks like you dont have any posts in the REAL trains forum. Mebbe you should check over there once in a while huh? You will see 1/if any threads pertaining to nothing.

  • And discussing the superbowl isn't, don't deny it. I have been here several times before becoming a member. It seems to be discussed on this forum every year and no one complains. So what makes this hunting forum so different? Are you guys anti-hunters? Is that it?
  • Ah, the debate rages on! When one is waiting for a train to show up you need some thing to do, and if it's hunting that does it for you, you'll have no argument from me! Venison is good for Pasta sauce, sausages (Polish seasoning if you please) and stew. Cheez, i'm hungry.
  • Yeah I hunt deer. With a locomotive! Now I feel bad for answering a question about someones english homework.
I see tons of off topic posts. You dont like em dont answer them. Or better yet if its a repeat post thats 25 pages in and someone didnt know that it has been talked about before, why get on them for reposting?
Until you grumps are the moderators I suggest you just pass it by. It will drop back to that 25th aforementioned page.
Maybe we need a topic cop! there we go. Book em Dan-O!

Yes we are on time but this is yesterdays train

  • Dude , route_rock, seriously, you're acting like a kid; complaining! So chill out, quit calling us grumps, and shut up!

I don't mind hunting Eric. It seems to be a neat hobby. Although, there are exceptions here in Ohio. For example: If you're caught hunting up here, you'll have a wide, wide fine or a time in prison at least. And plus, up here, don't know about down there, you have to have a certified license to own guns, and yes, there are limits to how many you own.

But altogether, it ain't that bad of a hobby. At least not in my opinion.

And Max, not being rude, but can you cut back on your anger a lil? I'm not being rude, or at least I hope not, but it seems if you see something you don't like, you jump all over the person that caused it. That's all I'm saying.

    Thanks

The NRA will never stand for this![:(!] Give good old Charles Heston and Wayne LaPierre some time and that won't last much longer!

Alstom- Thanks pal you're a true friend.

route rock- I'm trying to keep my cool and be the mature one but you are making that difficult. If you have a problem with hunting, the do the mature thing and just stay away from this topic and quit trying to raise hell. I realize (spelling) that we all have equal say in our opinions, but out and out complaining repeatedly just ain't right.
  • Unfortunately this forum doesn't have an off topic section. I like hunting; I use a muzzleloader that I built.
BTW: Out west there aren't any ridiculous gun laws like that.
  • Giggles heck guys I am calm. Look in the mirror to see complaints. Obviously the written word on a screen cant convey the mirth and sarcasm I have used to write this. However it does prove a point about passing it and moving on.

    Human nature I guess[}:)]
