What is your favorite railroad line?

  • The same! UP.
  • Definitely BURLINGTON NORTHERN I'm from AUstralia and I started modelling GREAT NORTHERN but to continue modelling what I like I advanced to BN. I've even travelled the 13.000 + miles from Australia to MONTANA (BIG SKY COUNTRY) just to watch those green and black SD40-2's. Even though it's now BNSF I still like BURLINGTON NORTHERN

  • Clover Valley Lumber railway.  Not a common carrier, but a 41 mile long line that hauled timber/logs for over 50 years in the Sierra Nevada mountains.  And believe it or not, one of the original engines, #04, is still being used. A memory filled with steam, smoke and whistles.
  • Current day Union Pacific.  Overall; Southern Pacific.
    Regards Gary
  • My favorite is the Denver & Rio Grande.  Runner up is Southern Pacific.  Honorable Mention is Western Pacific.

  • Raritan River Railroad
  • i'm gonna have to change my fav from Chicago and North Western to the Denver and Rio Grande Western...cuz i can still go see some DRGW motive power in active service if i wanted to make the trip out west, and i cant see any CNW motive power anymore

    Your friendly neighborhood CNW fan.

  • My favorites:

Fallen Flag: Louisville & Nashville / Southern

Current Class I: CSX,since it's the closest to me. I do like NS's paint schemes though.

Short Line/Regional : R.J. Corman. They own the line here in Bardstown, and I grew up seeing the  Dinner Train they have almost every day.

  • UP sucks, lol, I have to go with the old PRR for a fallen flag and and NS for modern, but PRR over NS anyday.

  • Let me add my $1.50 here;

    1.-The Missouri Kansas & Texas

    2.-The Missouri Pacific

    3.-The Louisville and Nashville

    4.-The Rock Island

and one that's still running and increasing its milage - The Kansas City Southern!

  • Tie between D&RG and CB&Q.

  • Hi

Anything that runs on track EXEPT my hate list of one UP

    regards John

  • I'll have to add another one, the D&RGW [Dirty & Ragged Going West], the line out of Pueblo running thru Royal Gorge, across Tennessee Pass, thru Minturn, and Dotsero. Granted this was more mountains to run thru, and the RR used an awful large amount of fuel to get what little freight they had into Pueblo, and eventualy Kansas City [D&RGW bought up the Kansas branch of the MP in later years].

Still would like to see the tourist train running out of Canon City go all the way thru to Tennessee Pass instead of just Leadville!
