what do you think about norfolk southern???

  • GREAT!!! I have them in town and just love to watch them. There is a very old bridge here which makes the NS have to carry a box car between the two engines so they wont fall off. Next time they come threw (which is late in the day) I will try to take a picture of them and the old bridge. I just love them the most and has aloways had them on my layout.
  • I also like NS. My favorite spot to watch NS trains is in Goshen, Indiana. The last time I was their, at least 10 trains went through in less that a half and hour!!!
  • I don't know how well they handle their operations, but they have a good logo.
Yes we call it the Dinky. Why? Well cause it's dinky! Proud to be the official train geek of Princeton University!
  • I love Norfolk Southern Because it goes by my house in Fairfield, Il and the tracks are always seem to be busy. Its also fun to model after. http://ztrainman.tripod.com/ .
I like NS but CSX has the B&O.
  • I'm not to fond of NS, because they sort of have a lack of power. CSX has an awesome variety and I enjoy their leasers, foreigners etc. NS main engines are Dash 9s. All are either black and white NS, unpainted primer NS or patched blue and white Conrails. Where CSX alone is colorful and bonus with all the leasers and foreigners! So, I like CSX better than NS, not saying NS sucks. It's my 5th or 6th favorite.

  • Oh the competition.

Norfolk Southern runs through a city near me. They run their trains through there around 40-60 m.p.h. And they run over everything in site. My aunt was killed by an NS train there. In the past two or three years, several people have been critically injured/killed by NS trains going way too fast and also because of faulty signals or no lights or crossbucks, just the "Railroad Crossing" X.
  • I like the Black Horses.

  • So is anybody going to change the topic soon??

  • I grew up with the Southern high-hoods. Boy do I miss them so. At least NS still keeps a few around. They do seem to run their trains fast. I've seen them highball through small towns. CSX observes a 35 mph speed limit through my hometown.
  • Norfolk Southern took over the former Erie main line by me. Despite the original promise of more service, they all but abandoned it. So aside from locals, there isn't much to report about them here. Then again, CSX doesn't seem to be doing much better on their line either.
  • I Must say I ABSOLUTLY LOVE NORFOLK SOUTHERN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    That is all.

It is not hard to figure out. a train on rails doing 60mph if you drive walk or stand in front of it and dont get out of the way its going to hit you and probley kill you. these trains are not going to fast. most people are just law breakers who get what they deserve getting in front of a locomotive.the last statement you are making is the signals are faulty if that is the case trains would be slowed down to 15 to flag crossings then you say no lights or crossbucks just a crossing x this makes no sense.

lets use common sense here people just dont drive to a place and see a place to cross over railroad tracks without knowing where it goes. otherwise they haved know idea it was even there. they key is most people who cross tracks dont look or even care they think they would hear the train and with todays cars that is not the case.
  • black is my favorite color. NS just plain grew on me. and my hatred for noselights helps out here with NS ordering all their units with cablights. catfish are cool, i can't understand the hate towards them
