The E-Unit return?

  • I think the likelyhood of seeing the return of the E-unit is just as likely as seeing the return of steam....

    I sure would like that!
  • I wouldn't say it was quite that remote...but just about. With all the commuter lines springing up, you never know. If there was a big enough market, maybe. We can hope.
  • I've take a E anyday
  • Can we just have a moratorium on U.P.-bashing? How about a rule that no forums can permit tra***alk about any specific railroad or locomotive builder? I was as guilty as anyone, but not any more.
  • YES[:D]! Bring back the Es PAs and DL109s.With the reliable EMD 710 engine, and all axles powered, they would be great locomotives.I never saw a DL 109, and only saw PAs twice,so I would welcome the chance to see them. Also, many younger fans never got the chance to see E or F units so bringing them back with updated prime movers would be really GRRREAT!
They could also bring back the Fairbanks Morse Erie Builts[:)]!

In this regard the UP should actually be commended...their trio of E's, pulling their refurbished streamliners around, have done a lot to keep the E spirit alive as a mainline engine. So yes Valor Storm, no RR bashing here. I tip my cap to UP, for doing their part for EMD's last great passenger engine!
  • will be seeing at least one E-unit in about 3 weeks, CN/IC have 2 gourgeous examples. 100-101 are rebuilt from old commuter units and one or both will more than likely be the lead power on their Santa Claus train. 100 was the power last year.
