Trackside with Erik and Mike, Vol. 10: June 21, 2004

  • #2 Nice photo, details,etc
#1 Leaning in, power, slight duskiness gives sense of the goneby. Photo says something. I vote #1.
  • Number 2 should have won hands down. Number 1 just looks like a grab shot - crooked composition, train "bleeds" off edge of photo, junk in foreground - generally a poor location for a good train shot, warm afternoon sun notwithstanding. Number 2 is well composed - no distracting elements, a good use of line, excellent placement of the subject in the frame.
  • Photo 1 was better in my opinion. Picture was very crisp, and sharp-looking.

Photo 2 was a tad bit fuzzy. Could have focused more on engine instead of
whole train. Also, was this an overhead shot? It might have been better
if it was taken more of a trackside angle.

Being Crazy, keeps you from going "INSANE" !! "The light at the end of the tunnel, has been turned off due to budget cuts" NOT AFRAID A Vet., and PROUD OF IT!!

  • I think the Santa Fe pic won for the same reason that the railfan tapes are so boring.
they consentrate on the power and not on the train itself. I liked the second pic with the train in the picture as well as the power!
  • I voted # 1 because the #2 type shots are so prolific, you get tired of them. #1 is a refresing shot for me.
