Did the Union Pacific Big Boys ever went to North Platte NE and Denver CO ocassionally.

Several Union Pacific books I have show at least two Big Boys on the Denver line.  I don't think it was normal and they had to be turned on the Y at Denver, but it does show them on a train in the late 56 era.

The latest UPHS calender has a picture of the 4005 near La Salle on an extra in 1957.   This is the same locomotive that ended up at the Museum at Denver later on in 1970.

Anything is possible, but I do not have pictures of any Big Boys at North Platte in any of my books.

  •     As a rule the BigBoys didnt stray east of Cheyenne very often for the resons in the above posts, it was a pain to turm them ,In Denver they had a wye track, But according to some old heads I have talked to in North Platte They had tp separte the engines from thier tenders and then both the engine and then the tender were turned on a turntable .Or the other method was to jack up the tender and then place ties along the turntable radius and slid the tender along , You can inagine the effort either method took. Hope this helps Larry
