  • Today I saw an F40C on the Milwaukee District North Line in Round Lake from two directions, both an hour apart. First, I saw the locomotive on its outbound trip, then I saw it pushing its way inbound, with the cab car in the lead. I understand that F40Cs are being sold off from Metra, so I rarely see F40Cs any longer; most of the locos on the Milwaukee District North line are either MPI MP36-8's (is that the way it's spelled?) or basic F40PHs.
  • Lots of UP and NS power has been coming through the FOND DU LAC area, including UP COAL TRAINS!!!!Does anyone know as to WHY UP is sending coal NORTH AND SOUTH on the CN - WC lines?

  • I finally got a chance to see the Wisconsin and Southern's E9's, 10A and 10C. They were sold a few years ago, and then bought back last year. This is the first time I've gotten to see them from less than a thousand feet away. I got one good photo of the pair and the two passanger cars behind them:

  • i saw a boring metrolink **sigh**
  • I saw absolutely nothing, because I don't live near railroad tracks and the train is never around when I'm around [:(]
  • Saturday, I saw four R.J. Corman SD-40T-2s and two high-nose GP-9s pulling about good sized string of gondolas full of sand, as well as about 25 empty steel ingot cars. Even better was all equipment was bright and shiney, with very little dirt, and, best of all, no graffitti!

  • Today I saw something I've never seen before, even after 20+ years of chasing trains, modeling trains, and living on the BNSF's Everett to Seattle mainline. It was an entire BNSF train of new rail, in lengths multiple hundreds of feet long stacked on specially made flats. The most amazing thing was that as the cars took a rather sharp curve just up the line from where I was standing, that rail curved right around with the flats, like flextrack with no ties! Of course, I didn't have a camera with me. Any body have any input on these cars, or this method of rail transport? Thanks.
  • Sunday I got to see Soo Line #1003 rolling through the Wisconsin countryside with a string of hoppers and a for real Soo Line caboose.
