GE OR EMD

  • everyone is allowed their favorite to look at and to operate.....i chose the current G.E. ac's they are a workhorse that load slower than the sd-40's but coming down mountain grade or up they are the undisputed champs....extended dynamics....an engineers best friend in these days of fuel conservation...like driving a brand new truck through town....i do love running old units...no delay in pullling and they ride nice...40 years later

    What About Alco?

Lest we forget, Alco made many wonderful locomotives: The RS-3, the Century series, the FA, the FPA, and of course the PA! (All hail the PA--yes Kevin, you too).

And what about the EMD E-Unit: one of the best looking diesels in history, and with the power to back it up!

I voted for the GE DASH-9

    See you around the forums,

P.S. Being as today is now tomorrow:

    Happy February 29, everyone!
I agree, what about the KING of locos, and my personal fav, ALCo

  • Since this is about GE or EMD, I would like to see the DD40AX series come back.

I would much rather see a new ALCo or a Baldwin though...

  • I think that both EMd and Ge are great locomotive builders. Emd usualy will make high horespower locomotives with lots of starting tracktive effort but the dont make lots of locomotives with high continous tracktive effot. Ge makes very reliable locomotives like th th AC4400Cw and AC6000cw. My favrete locomotive is the SD-90/43mac and the AC6000cw. GO UP
