Some RR's Need New Paint Schemes

  • CSX-NS-CR what a beautiful mess to bad UP didnt get Involved That woul be hell but they would be the first Coast to Coast RR In US&UP history
but It worked out there was no major derailments or traffic jams on rails
Like UP-SP It went down without A hitch What would be better would be to Paint CSX loco's back to Chessie colors or At least the ones owned by B&O C&O &
WM Or back to WM Color for WM locos B&O Blue for B&O locos & C&O black
for C&O but then thered be the SBD-L&N I think The new blue Is cool
As for NS maybe A diffrent Color scheme Is A good idea Maybe
Green & Blue Then maybe UP would change colors too (keep dreaming)
That would be nice to see A ICG Orange & White or Orange & Grey
again How about A Green&Silver BNSF or Red&White Thatd be cool
Im thinking Orange And Blue UP send your thoughts.

  • SLIC,
I agree with you,the old schemes were better.
However The "OLD" C & O had BLUE paint.
The GP-7,9's were blue with yellow lettering and stripes.
B & O had blue paint with yellow lettering & I think what is
    called a Sunburst.

    The C & O GP-30' were blue with Yellow Noses(front & back)
GP-35's Blue, yellow front only. The rest of the units at that time
    were Blue-yellow lettering only.
The only C & O units painted BLACK (other tham steamers)
were afew few diesels(GP's F-7&FP-7's) were painted BLACK
with "ZEBRA" stripes. Saftey concious, but cost too much.

Actually the old PERE MARQUETTE scheme was better.
They were blue & yellow, with thin blue stripes on the yellow.
    (check C & O Power, pg 318 for examples)

    P.S. At least CSX did use L & N Grey & C & O blue.[:)] [sigh] [2c]

  • If BNSF does a Heritage III and IV schemes I hope it's some varitation of the old Warbonnet. Even though they put the two Santa Fe logo shapes on the nose of each scheme the whole locomotive is still reminicent of the Great Northern.

I like the orange and green scheme, by the way.

  • BNSF needs to repaint all the widecab locomotives expect the BN order of SD70MAC and the SD60M
  • N&W had a maroon scheme they painted on locomotives used for business and inspection trains. I wi***hey had applied that to all their engines...

The N & W Maroon paint was a very "cool"
scheme. Although, not being an N & W fan
per se I still liked it.

p.s. The VIRGINIAN paint was better!
I beleive it was blue & yellow, or blue & gold.

  • I bet the C&O passenger scheme (dark blue/yellow/light blue) as applied to their E's would look great on CSX units :)
  • All us C & O fans sure would be pleased!!!!!!

csx and ns had there hands full during the merger process.they still act like they know whats best for the conrail lines and former conrail workers are silently laughing. As far a paint schemes go csx could use a rainbow paint scheme seeing all the leased and borrowed power that they have been using lately.(should have seen the yard at willard)
