This is an image of a British Rail Class 15 locomotive running in the late 1950's era. There are similarities between US locomotive style design with the cab at one end. The type went out of service quite quickly, they were suited to branch or short line operations but not particulalry reliable, though better than some others of similar vintage. The brake van behind the locomotive is our version of a caboose.
