Changing WS coarse turf colors?

Nice score!! They work a lot better than a blender. Seat cushion foam works. expanded packing foam. (the kind that looks Great Stuff foam in a can) Even those blocks of green floral foam.Use the top shredding blade first and the use the bottom blending blade to mix the color in. After it dries, run it back through if you want it ground up finer.

I talked my wife into giving up the food processor.  I think we've used it like five times in five years.  Now , what can I chop up?!?!

I was hoping to simulate dead leaves under trees. 

 In Lou Sassi's book on basic scenery he advocates the use of dead leaves to simulate dead leaves.  Feeds them to a blender and chops them up.

Found a blender at a yard sale for five bucks.  I think the "appropriations committee" could authorize that kind of expendature.

Thanks for the ideas.  I have a ton of foam in rust, orange, and red.  I was hoping to simulate dead leaves under trees.  I sprayed my trees with diluted brown paint.  It seemed to darken the colors to a more realistic color.  I'm trying to use what I have instead of spending more money.  The head of the appropriations committee (wife) told me to stop spending money!  Seeing that she holds the only vote, I need to be more of a "modeler" than a "buyer".

Yep. Throw it in an old blender and squirt in some craft paint. Mix it around and lay it out on some newspaper to dry. Crumble it up in your hands when dry or put it back in the blender.

Since it's already colored it will come out darker than the craft paint you use. So try a shade or two lighter than the color you want to end up with.  You can buy white seat cushion foam and make your own too. I make all my own.

I have been dusting all sorts of colors on top of all their foams with good success. If things are already on a layout it will be more difficult with over spray problem. I just spray what I am after before I apply it. I use cheap spray cans from the local hardware store.

Has anybody had any success in changing the colors of woodland scenics turf.  I was hoping to paint or dye some leftover coarse turf to a brown color.  If anyone has some words of wisdow I would appreciate it.
