Anyone that has a proto sd9 does yours buzz when it runs on DC at any speed my proto gp7s don't buzz. Can some help? does anyone have a cure?[V][:(][:(!]

This could be caused by many things. The first one I can think of is possible bodyshell resonating - the bodyshell is vibrating causing the buzzing noise. Try removing the shell, then run the loco to see if the noise is still present. Failing that, check that there is nothing rubbing against rotating parts in the mechanism. You might also want to try putting a little oil on the motor bearings and putting a little plastic-safe grease in the trucks.

I had a Proto 2000 0-6-0 switcher that buzzed continually until it was running flat out. I sent it back to HobbyCraft (Canadian distributor). They looked at it and sent it back with the same problem. I contacted them again, with the help of the dealer I bought it from, and got a new engine from them with no buzzing noise.

A bit of a hassle, but they came through in the end. Two lessons learned - mail order companies cannot provide a hands-on test before you buy, and the savings from ordering by mail were eaten up by postage fees to send the thing back...
