Anybody out there who was never a child?

On the World's Greatest Hobby website there is a "timeline of model trains".
It mentions participation in the hobby by "baby boomers who were children...."
The text stops there. If I'm not mistaken all baby boomers were children at one time.

I live in the Kansas City, MO area. The "Find a Hobby Shop Near You" section turned up two in greater Kansas City and one in Texas. What is the definition of "near you"?

All nit picking aside, the WGH campaign is a good one and this truly is the world's greatest hobby.

Agreed. WGH looks to be a great idea - pity we don't have anything similar in the UK - over here there's still a distinct "Playing with toy trains" stigma about model trains. I'm surprised Hornby hasn't tried to start something like the WGH campaign, as it would surely lead to increased sales of their products.

One aspect of our hobby is, serious operation and prototype fidelity aside, it allows the child in me to come out and play.

Any hobby shop within an hour's drive is 'in my area.' I usually check them out when passing by them on other business. Unfortunately, 3 of them have gone out of business recently. There still are about 4-5 shops within that hour's drive.
