The Marx 666 is an old and collectible engine. I would be surprised if dealers in old toy trains didn't have either original or replica replacement parts for this.
I think you might find the experts on this at the
Classic Toy Trains
forum.
I though I once saw motor brushes in one of the small parts bins at a local hardware store. These would be generic, standardized parts. It might be worth a look. But I'd check with the toy train dealers first.

You could consider fitting a replacement motor - you might need to modify the mountings however so consider whether the model may be a collectors item - I must stress that I know nothing about Marx locos!

My Marx 666 Locomotive motor has a worn out bushing. I need some help with which direction to go. Do I try to locate someone who has an old Marx locomotive with a non-running engine in hopes of salvaging the armature and/or bushing or is there any hope of finding a replacement bushing to install? The motor will run, but because the bushing is so worn, the armature shaft keeps slipping upward so that the gear on the end of the shaft will not stay meshed with the wheel gears. Therefore, the locomotive wheels will just lock up. Everything else on the 666 is in good shape, so I hate to abandon it and buy another locomotive.
