The Southern Railway. They had beautifully detailed, well maintained locomotives, good looking, very distinctive cabs, and they were a very well run successful railroad.

My top 5 favorite would be the Pennsylvania Railroad, Pennsylvania-Reading Seashore Lines, Reading, Conrail, Jersey Central.

The Pennsylvania RR--by miles. The Pennsy really stokes my fire. That, coupled with the fact the company seemed so willing to embrace a wide variety of motive power--from GG1's to Baldwin Sharks. That really made the railroad stand out in my thinking. It's a shame it's gone; I often wonder had it survived what it would look like today.

I model the Western Maryland up til the merger, then I do a "time warp"[(-D] (Rocky horror fans?)
I also model the Maryland Midland, risen from the ashes of the "wild mary" from Glyndon to Highfield

Fond memories of the Seaboard Coast LIne in the 70s and early 80s. I bicycled often to Tampa Yard and Uceta Yard. After getting used to me, train crews were very pleasant and friendly. The GE U-Boat locomotives sounded impressive!

"I like my Pullman Standards & Budds in Stainless Steel flavors, thank you!"

I assumed you meant prototype railroad. Otherwise I might have picked the Virginian and Ohio!

Although I said F E C on your poll,
I AM MY OWN FAVORITE EASTERN RAILROAD !!!!
My road is the EAST COAST RAILWAYS.
The E C R uses many of the eastern roads as
lease engines as well as the B N locos, but I am my own
system.
Now, I chose the F E C becuase I grew up in Florida and really
love the old colors on "the Champion" passenger sets. Today,
the F E C went to bland blue but still a little nostalgia left to
admire.

So many to choose from, I picked Canadian National, however I would have to include under their banner, Grand Trunk and Central Vermont, loved their 2-10-4s.

C&O would be way up there, gotta love those Allegheny's!!

I picked Pennsy for the ones you listed, but I like the Ma and Pa more. Also, the Maine two footers, and the EBT,and the B&O, and the Old and Weary (NYO&W). Like the camelbacks the CNJ ran.
Enjoy
Paul

N&W

The NS is Norfolf Southern, no "and" anywhere.

There are several hundred eastern roads, no way to include them all.
Nigel N&W in HO scale, 1950 - 1955 (..and some a bit newer too) Now in San Jose, California
