There's no real perfect way to do this, people have had varying degrees of success using a cotton swab and: isopropl alcohol, pinesol, spit and some of the comercial paint strippers, (I've tried the alcohol and Chameleon with ok results). You could even try carefully scraping it off with a modeling knife.

The problem is that by the time you've removed the lettering you've also removed some of the underlying paint, so I would expect to have to touch up the original paint anyway.

removing stock lettering

I plan on re-naming a L&N diesel switcher to my own road name, yet keep the same paint scheme.  Does anyone know if there is a way to remove just the lettering on the sides of the switcher?

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks,

Mike
