Model Cars-n-trucks, some heavy equipment in 1/24 and 1/25 scale, and working on real cars (thus "sparkingbolt".= Sparkplug in the early days of the automobile in England) Also enjoy welding and metal work, not artsy stuff but building trailers and such, repairing anything broken. Dan

I'm into mostly outdoor sports, hunting and that kind of stuff, I also keep track of motorsports, and like to go to classic car shows. I also have a fairly large model car collection, but since I've been in mrr'ing I gave that up. The biggest reason I don't get into a lot of other hobbies is that I don't even really have the money to build a layout in a halfway-decent amount of time, not to mention my parents aren't all that interested in things like RC airplanes or model boats and the like, and I certainly don't have the money to go into those as well...[sigh]

I would have gotten into fishing as well, but again neither the time nor convienence...

I like getting together with my friends at church...i don't know if that is a hobby, but I spend alot of time at my church, especially in the summer. I play guitar and am learning to play the piano. I am a fencer and a few of my friends are trying to teach me how to play basketball. I like getting with other Homeschoolers and fighting with wooden weapons ( my team always loses )

My other hobbies include photography (of architecture, flowers and, um, trains), reading (Izaac Asimov is my current favorite), travelling (on or off trains) and music (as an avid listener and as a performer....I play synthesizers with the worship band at my church).

I love to travel as much as I love trains....My wife thinks i'm into "gardening" but that's her hobby!..I'm just there to pull the weeds, run the tiller, ect...not my idea of fun!...I can get the veggies at a supermarket at a lot less cost and a lot less labor than that stupid garden can produce!...Chuck[:D]

Well of course. I love to read and collect books. I deer and turkey hunt. I play a little golf (really badly). And I dabble in stamp collecting and two or three other things.

Trains are a significant part of my attention span, but I do like golf, when I have time, photography, B&W, and digital, plus reading short stories, and writing stuff. None of my "work" is all that good, but I still enjoy writing it.

Used to cross-country ski a lot, until my knee went out about five years ago. My two other passions (hobbies?) besides model railroading are collecting classic films from the '30's, '40's and '50's--with a few silents mixed in--and right now a lot of research into why the ancient Romans never managed to conquer 1st-century Germany (well, DUH!--otherwise we'd all be speaking Italian now, right?). It's a strange little hobby, but it's also kind of eye-opening. I mean, if I were a 5'7" Roman soldier, I sure as HELL wouldn't want to meet a big, blond 6'2" ax-weilding Barbarian in a dark German forest.

Model railroading, home theater, and kiting.

I like to fish and camp, but I have to admit my bass boat hasn't been in the water since I started MRR'ing a year ago. Hopefully I will be far enough along on my layout next spring that I won't feel guilty to do a little fishing. The CEO [4:-)] has already laid the law down about camping, " We will go camping in the spring or I will [B)] your [censored] !!"

I had too many hobbies going....not enough time nor money. I had to pare them all down to one..... model railroading.

Modular railroading at its best!
If it has an X in it, it sucks! And yes, I just had my modeler's license renewed last week!

I am in the midst of a very slow restoration of a 1954 Austin Healey. The model RR bug has bitten hard and has dominated my free time, so it is not really a current hobby, but it will return.

In addition to full scale railfanning and modeling, I'm also into camping(I'm a moderator of an online camping board for pop-up campers), NASCAR, classic car restoration, and the occasional boating and fishing.[8D]

I like to draw pictures with pencil crayons (trains are one of my favourite subjects), I play guitar in a rock 'n' roll band, I like to record music and manipulate photo images with my computer, and I'm a bit of an emergency vehicle buff. Regading the latter hobby, I have a few models of fire engines (some in HO scale) and a few old electronic sirens.

I try to grow some vegies in the summer but didn't this year. I also try to do some landscaping around the house, but again, didn't this year.

I enjoy reading, collecting old R&B, jazz, and pop records from the 50s and 60s (those not available on CD) and transferring them to CD-R for my personal use, cosmology, science, traveling to off-beat places (despise tourist traps), thrift stores and rummage sales, and other non-mainstream interests.

Actually a truly serious model railroader, which I consider myself to be, needs no other hobbies. In order to do justice to, and fully enjoy this hobby, a wide variety of other skills are needed. Carpentry, electrical, electronics, photography, model building, historical research, painting, architecture, engineering, design, and computers are just a few that came to mind quickly. Rather than get involved in a lot of time, money, and energy consuming activities, I have chosen to roll them all into one and focus on a single goal..... designing and building a first class model railroad. FOCUS! you will be rewarded.

I am the owner of an HO Slot Car Race Shop. We have two large tables (16' x 6' 4 lane and 14' x 6' 4 lane) and a small table (8' x 6') that we race on. We race every Friday and Saturday night. We have a race group that ranges in attendance of high teens to mid twenties. All total we are approximately 50+ racers strong in our group. We race for points to get trophies and plaques. The cars we race vary in make including LifeLike (the one and the same), Tomy (Super G+), Tyco (440X2), Wizzard (aftermarket company making the awesome Patriot cars), and Scale Auto (Panther). We modify these cars in several differant ways per make to create multiple classes of cars. This is a very fun hobby for boys and girls of all ages. The maintenance of the cars is much similiar to that of locomotives. Some of these cars run armatures that are identicle to locomotives, and because they also run on rails, they share a good amount of likeness. If any of your guys are in the Virginia coastal area, let me know and I can give you directions.

Aside from being a railroader, I like lifting weights, playing violent video games, spending time with my nephew, and cooking. Does eating count as a hobby? [:D] Cause I do enjoy it.

Of course my main interest in life is trains and trains always take priority with me, but I have other interests as well. I also collect either antiques or junk (depends how you look at it), do acting and writing. I'm also a history buff.
