I put a couple mini brillance decoders (1638's I think) in Kato SD90's and they seem to be working fine.  There isn't much room under the shell so I couldn't use a 1 inch speaker, but they sound pretty good.  I believe they do have BEMF.

Brilliance any better?

I was wondering if MRC's Brilliance line of diesel decoders have improved since their original production?  There was a recent advertisement for back EMF in this line and I don't recall that in the original (non-brilliance) decoders.  Are these holding up better and lasting longer?
