Cannon & Company question....
Posted by mbshaw on Monday, December 1, 2003 3:09 PM
I am attempting to model an early SOO SD 40-2 with the 4-window cab. I am using a undec. Kato shell and will be using a Cannon & Company thin-wall cab kit (#1501) with the 4-window add-on kit.

I have bought a couple to "play" with and have little success in getting the roof to fit tightly. Has any one else used these kits? If so, did you have the same problem(s)? How did you fix it?

Thanks...

I've assembled several Cannon cab kits and can't report any serious problems with the roof fitting. I assemble the kits upside down by attaching the walls to the roof with fast evaporating cement like Tenax 7R. If I do notice any small gaps I fill them with putty, but they're usually pretty small.

By assembling the cab upside down, I allow any variations in wall height to come out at the bottom, which I sand flat after the cement sets.
