Detailing Dash 9
Posted by Dough on Saturday, November 29, 2003 9:03 PM
I just got a CSX C44-9 for $13 shipped. However, it has none of the railings or other details from the original box. It isn't numbered, and it is also missing a driveshaft. I hope that even with the problems this is still a good deal.

My question is where do I find the missing parts. I thought that it would be a great reason to use the yellow railings and other more authentic details.

Thanks.

Depending on the maker, parts are not hard to find
when ordered from Walthers or direct from the maker.
See if you can identify who made the model and reply
back. I may be able to find info for you.

Hmmm, I just realized that I have no idea. I guess I'll have to wait until it arrives as the seller is just a middle man, and dosen't really have a clue. I'll ask, but I'm not holding my breath.

If its Athearn, you should have no problem finding parts. You can order them from 1stplacehobbies.com, Walther, or direct from Athearn.

OK I took a $13 gamble and it came today. First off, I have no idea how it got in this condition. The major problem right now is that the four pins that hold the shell to the body are cracked and two of them are still in the frame. Any clues as to how I can fix this? If I have all of the pieces, then is their a way to glue them all back together?

Second, I need a front drive shaft. I don't have the instructions so could someone help me find the part number?

Third, I need hand rails all the way around. Where should I get these, and since I have to get new ones anyway, how do I get the authentic yellow and such. I also need any misc. horns and the other parts that come with the package. One more thing, I just noticed that it is missing the black plastic gas tank cover part on the right side. I guess I need a part number for that...

Last does anybody know what style numbers I need? I'll need the front white plates as well...

Thanks for the help.

Being old is when you didn't loose it, it's that you just can't remember where you put it.
