Thanks!
Posted by Anonymous on Friday, November 21, 2003 12:35 PM
I have been lurking for a while and searching the archives of this forum for information. I wanted to say thanks for all the great posts!

I bought my first train set today. It's an Athearn set (which most of you recommended to the other new people who asked.) I got it off www.internettrains.com (which I learned was a good site here!).

I have the frame and top of my benchwork done, a 4X8. I have been playing with RTS 5.0 trying to decide on a layout. The one I really like I on ebay. It was on the back of a box of Kato track someone was selling. It said the layout was in "The worlds greatest hobby" video. I can't find the video either. I haven't been able to replicate it on RTS 5.0, but I'll keep trying.

Thanks for all the tips, whether you knew it or not!

The video "Building your first model railroad" is available here:

http://store.yahoo.net/kalmbachcatalog/10002.html

Since it is produced by Kalmbach (the parent of this site), I would advise against violating copyright...

More info on "greatest hobby" can be found here:

The downloadable booklet also has some good ideas and suggestions.

I thought it was illegal to copy and/or sell tapes like that.

some public libraries (esp. Big City types) may have copies of various books / videos that you can borrow for 1 or more weeks.

cheers, krump
