Operating coal equipment
Posted by Anonymous on Thursday, November 20, 2003 2:22 AM
I was wondering if there is anyone out there who models coal operations that are able to actually load and unload thier gons realistically.

I am into HO and am currently planning a large expansion. I would like to add more realism to my layout using coal or other similar product. I am looking for more than just a "simulated" car load here.

Can you help or point me to some refernces on the internet?

Thank you!

Model Railroader July 1999, page 84, describes how to build a working coal tipple with PVC pipe, an auger bit and a windshield wiper motor. I think that you should be able to get a copy.

Good Luck....Ken
