Intermountian cars seem to be some of the best detailed freight cars out there period. They offer them as RTR and i believe still as kits...but i woulndt suggest one in kit form to a beginer. I have several of their Cylindrical grain hoppers in the CN scheme and in the Canadian Government schemes. GREAT CARS!!!!

As for Atlas cars...i dont have any of their hoppers but i have several of their Evans boxcars. The newer release of these cars is muh better detailed than the older origional run. But great cars!!

I have one of the Atlas cars and several of the IM ACF 100-ton two bay cars, which are nearly identical in basic details to the three bays.

Both are OK, but the Atlas car lacked brake piping detail (fortunately not too hard to retrofit) and the ladders on the IMs are a little heavy compared to their other offerings. I would rate the cars about even overall though neither is really perfect.
