steamfreightboy I want the perfect RS-3 in HO i.e. runs great (not athearn), has good details (not atlas), and is DCC ready (athearn but not atlas).

I agree completely and it needs to be in all three phases as the NKP only had the Phase 3 model and all previous models were Phase 1 except for the Stewart Models abomination.

Rule 1: This is my railroad.
Rule 2: I make the rules.
Rule 3: Illuminating discussion of prototype history, equipment and operating practices is always welcome, but in the event of visitor-perceived anacronisms, detail descrepancies or operating errors, consult RULE 1!
I wasn't going to chime in because there have been so many of these 'wish list' posts, heck even I started one, but then I saw a few that made me want to repose.
I agree with Dave V. and others on an N scale 4-4-2 Atlantic and 4-8-2. Doesn't have to be PRR specific just a general model. Fox Valley Models has he Milwaukee Hiawatha in N (I've seen one, held it in my hands, it is a beautiful model set), so I'm hoping they will come out with non-streemlined version.
The main reason I'm chimming in is because of a few Alco's were mentioned so:
N scale, affordable, either factory DCC or NMRA plug-in DCC ready
RSD15, low nose, would be neat to see in lettered for GB&W and Fox Valley RR
RS27, again painted for GB&W but I would take other paints
Century 424, still gonna go with GB&W paint
Century 430, suprise! GB&W paint
The 27 and 430 weren't as popular or mass produced of loco model, but the 15 and 424 were pretty main stream models built in some bigger numbers.
The only thing I would request is something affordable in steam with "Wheeling Lake Erie" on it. Wish I had started to plan for anything else.
Texas Zepher don7: As I have since switched over to DCC I doubt I will get to these kits for a long time. Why is that? I mean how is converting to DCC related to building a kit?

I am only interested in DCC and sound locomotives. Do not want any more engines that I would have to add DCC and sound to. I am impatient, want the locomotives RTR with DCC and Sound installed.
I would love to see a Southern MS 4. Not the brass models which run about $1300.00.

stokesdaIn HO, I'd like to see an affordable (Atlas, Kato, Genesis,.... i.e. not brass) Krauss-Maffei diesel hydraulic that the D&RGW and SP used. To my knowledge, those haven't been mass-produced by any major manufacturer, except maybe one (Rivarossi?) many moons ago. They would make a very distinctive addition to any locomotive roster layout.
I agree with "stokesda"
But I would also like a Southern Pacific AC-9 preferably by BLI, early coal or later oil version does not matter as long as it comes with Paragon2
Acela026Maybe I'm not lookinghard enough, but I would like to see a quality HO BL2. The only one I've ever seen was an ancient AHM ($20-Why not?) but it runs great
A very good quality BL-2 has been available in the Proto 2000 line for nearly 25 years now. They're very common, and you can get one off eBay for less than $50. The detail is excellent, and was some of the best you could get in the 1980s.

I'd like to see some plastic SP prototypical steam, I'd like to get a Sunset Models Mogul, but $645 is out of my range.

That or an ATSF 2-10-2 to match the 1:1 model in town...

don7As I have since switched over to DCC I doubt I will get to these kits for a long time.
PRR in AZ
If you are patient you should be able to find one of the Bowser HO kits.
I found a couple last year on E-Bay to put away for a winter project. One of the kits was the G-5 4-6-0 locomotive, the other is a M1A 4-8-2. I have seen a few of these kits also on the YAhoo HOYARDSALE site.
Both of these kits are very heavy, the engines should be able to pull very well with all that weight.
As I have since switched over to DCC with sound installed, I doubt I will get to these kits for a long time.
I want BLI to re-issue their PPR K4. BTW, anybody want to sell me theirs?
Even better, a Lowey streamlined K4 with set of FOM Pullmans would be amazing.
I'd also buy a PRR S2 in a heartbeat.

What I would like to see (and buy) are Victorian era British steam locos in On30. I realize the market would be extremely small.

I have two:
Another run of Atlas's RS11.
A C424/425 in N scale other than the life-like model...maybe Atlas?

I'm with Eddie on this one: would love to see a commercially available PRR L1 mikado
Being a Seaboard Air Line fan with a persnal liking for smaller steamers I would like to see some road specific models in HO - an F7, 0-6-0 for sure.

Alvie,
Kits would be awesome, especially due to the Prototype changes & customization over time, & it allows the modeller to build a specific machine. I know that Railflyer is going to release EMD diesel shell kits & they are true scale & can be custom built to any (EMD) factory spec. For me IMHO, since Kato decided to to take a break from HO, Railflyer will be the new model that has the accuracy that I demand, again In my Opinion...
I would also welcome any new small & mid range Steam, I'm not 'just' a diesel modeler.
Thanks to Blackstone I can enjoy the beauty of K-27s!
Would anybody aside me like to see nice locomotive kits come back? Now, I've never built one, though I like the idea of really well executed kits that allow the model builder maximum assembly time without a lot of prep time. I hear British etched brass kits are of excellently done in that aspect. I am imagining nice kits, accurate kits, made from etched brass, white metal and resin. Oh wait! I actually assembled something like that, it had been a Kato/GHQ PRR L1 Mikado about 7-years ago. Now, if something like that could have been done in N-scale, I wonder if HO could have something similar. Even if not full kits, even pre-painted and pre-assembled mechanisms but with bags of parts to install afterwards to me sounds awesome.
I think with how much the market for good steam models that has been created over the last 10-years, it'd be excellent to see more and more kits, lost wax castings, cast resin details and more to convert these models into many new and different locomotives.
Alvie
Cedarstrand, on the one hand I can't imagine that Mr C would utilize the same old time-worn dies for his new GETL; on the other hand I can't imagine that Mr C would not utilize the same old time-worn dies for his new GETL. I guess we'll just have to wait and see!
And regarding Mother Hubbards: twenty or so years ago there was a member of an N-Scale club here in Arizona who had created a Mother Hubbard using one of the old 1960-1970-era Atlas USRA Mikes. He had shortened the boiler . . . . . and the frame . . . . . eliminating the trailing truck under a scratchbuilt Wooten firebox and had built a new cab sitting atop the boiler rendering a 2-8-0 Camelback. I'm just afraid, my friend, that if you're looking for a Mother Hubbard your going to have to do it yourself by cutting down one of Kato's Mikes.
Another conversion this guy had done was to shorten the boiler and frame from one of Atlas' Pacifics creating a (conventional) 4-6-0. I'm not into Mother Hubbards but B'mann's new Ten Wheeler might be a good starting point for a Camelback conversion.

Overland Models to the rescue!!! Dash 8-40CM
It is in a class by itself, I'm very impressed with this models detail, & it's performance, WOW...
For anyone unfamaliar with a Canadian BC Rail Dash 8-40CM is this is a quick shot as it came out of the box, & put on my photo stand...
Enjoy!
I'd like to see a rerun of an older model-a SD80MAC in Conrail blue. HO Scale all the way.
Crap happens. When it does, stop, take a deep breath, and call the wreck train.
In HO a Kato steam locomotive with Canadian National road name.
I'll throw my hat in the ring.
PRR G-5 4-6-0 in HO. Could also be lettered for LIRR and I think there was another road that used them but the name ecapes me.

New loco? How about an HO scale Lady Gaga - she is about as loco as they come
