Hello and thanks for your reply. I would sure appreciate you sharing any photos of the Saratoga yard you might have. My email address is: scottandjudyg@yahoo.com
I took several detailed shots of the old freight house when I was last in Saratoga almost 7 years ago. But I have nothing of the roundhouse and assorted buildings in the freight yard.
I have been trying to find a Sanborn map of the track layout in Saratoga and the tracks leaving Saratoga for Corinth and North Creek. Not much success, right down close to none, for the era I am trying to model - late 1940s and 1950s. I was born in Saratoga and this time frame is when I rermember the D & H most.
I live in Sumner, WA and don't get back to the East Coast very often. We ARE planning a driving trip to cover a lot of the East Coast "attractions" next Fall when I'm retired.
My sister still lives in Saratoga Springs so we will be visiting her at some point. We also plan to drive through some of New England to absorb the Fall foliage. We don't get the vibrant colors in the West that you experience in the East.

We are indeed loosly modeling Kenwood Yard (Albany & Port) to Rouses Point(staging). We skipped Saratoga and are doing Ft Edward Yard and the Glens Falls Branch and the small yard at Whitehall with cutoff to Rutland, Vt. Obviously this is also highly compressed and somewhat freelanced. Double-deck 12x23.
I have pix of the Saratoga yard, engine house/yard office (present day) and the old and new Amtrack station and a lot of other stuff. Let me know if you need anything. Where (in the US)are you located? (It'd be nice if people would put a little more info in their profile)

Thanks for your help. From what I am gathering, this a detail not worth adding, correct?
I noted that your avatar is "Adirondacks." Are you modelling that part of the D & H?
I am attempting to model something of what I remember of my hometown - Saratoga Springs - and the D & H line northwards to North Creek, greatly selectively compressed. I am working in HO and have about 2/3s of a 13' x 11' bedroom to work in.
I am in the throes of detailing a Kato RS-2 (black with end stripes) and two Atlas (same paint configuration). The Kato has the correct single headlamp; the Atlas units have the dual sealed beams removed and a single lamp installed. I've cut off the two OEM horns and installed a 3-chime Leslie (I think) set on a pedastal.
The question has to do with the bell: I assume it to be an under-floor frame-mount. If I am correct, where is it situated - left/right, long hood/short hood?
