It's supposed to read: I continue across the scene in this manner until I get to the other end, making sure that everything stays aligned. It takes only a very thin film of glue to do this. Afterward, I go back along the top of the scene and secure the top edge. I put a little glue on my finger and run it along the back top edge of the scene and press it into place. There should be nothing sticking up.

Ok now I see what you mean

15" to 18" away and 1 to 2 seconds per spray can yield excellent clouds.

Jeff, I've followed right along on your tutorial and appreciate you taking the time to put it together.  You've about convinced me to try some of this, especially the clouds, I like the way they turned out.  I guess you just have to experiment with how far away to keep the can from the backdrop and how short to make the bursts of paint.

Thanks,

Brian: I'd love to keep it coming, but this was the third of three phases for this project. Here are the links to all three phases.

Thanks. This backdrop project is something that I've been meaning to do for a while, but one thing or another kept getting in the way of it, so I finally decided that it was time to it done, so d**n the torpedo's, full speed ahead, and after a busy weekend, viola, it's done. Now, about that scenery.

Thanks Jeffrey for the quick response. That info is exactly what I am looking for. I have never used MS Paint but it looks like I will be learning how to use it today.

Thanks Again

Jeff,

I've not been around.  Has their been a Phase I and II?

I have access to a printer that will do 20 inch by 32 inch long photographic images.  I have thought about trying and doing this same thing.  My question would be, what resolution do you think the images you are using are? And the second question is, Are the distant part of the scenes blurred or muted in color to tone them down at all?

I love the way these seem to blend together.  I just have to figure what sort of scene I need to make!

Chris

Chris: Yes, there are two previous phases. I'll send you the links in a PM so you won't have to hunting for them. The resolution is about medium once the images are enlrged to HO scale. and the scenes do haze and blur in the distance, just as an actual landscape does. .Deleted due to copyright changes. 01/17/07

Thanks for taking us through that process Jeffrey. I said before that your printed backdrop was up with the very best I'd seen. I stand by that comment!!

Very nice!

Nice job with the tutorial also.

I'm thinking that you should have put it all on the original thread though. That way it stays all together.

Thanks for the link to the backgrounds too!

WOW! That turned out great! It's hard to tell what's real and what's in the backdrop.

Thank you, Chip. That means a lot. I'm throwing my 40+ years of model railroading experience into this layout and building it up as well as I can with this partially paralyzed body of mine. When you consider that I have no feeling in my hands, it's incredible that I can do as much as I do.

It's amazing that so many people can look at your fine work without so much as good job, or fine how do you do.

It's from people like you that the rest of us learn. Thanks.
