I have a picture of me on my business web site. I just put in the url for that specific picture and it showed up in the box. They way its set up, the picture of you needs to be on the internet some place so you can link to it.

For example, the url for my picture is

Welllllll, all the info is great and I'm sure that big brother will make copies of the whole thing and keep track of where you go until someone more interesting comes along to devert their attention. In this post 9-11 world, I don't think posting your life story on the Internet is a very good idea. You have every right to do so, but really, did you give this a whole lot of thought before doing it?

Well, we know who is paranoid.

Quite seriously I think Uncle Sam has better things to be doing than checking out what brand of model train I prefer. All thise so called quasi government secret agencies that everyone is so fearful of have yet to be proven to exist.

Plus, you don't know people from Wyoming very well. Every person comes equiped with a couple dozen firearms and several home made artilary pieces. I dare somebody (Osama?) to try some funny business.

I'm with Emeraldisle on this one.
Likely has more to do with security and privacy (with a "high-risk" job, the info I leave tends to be vague), rather than of being paranoid.

cheers, krump

I am in an occupation where I do not need any more publicity for
myself than I already get by people taking illegal photos of me .
I stand on a fence protecting resources and I will do the same
protecting of my true identity. I only say what I WANT to say on this
chat forum.

I agree with James,

QUOTE:

However, as an ex-IT (information technology) guru, 18+ years in the business, I know that there are agencies out there that monitor suspicious internet traffic. Mostly internet gambling and porn. The organizations that you should be aware of are the "Crackers". Those groups of people that do nothing all day but try to crack into other computer systems. These groups mostly focus on financial institutions. NOT MR fourms.

I have filled out my profile so that other MR's will know a little about me and can contact me if they have a question that they would like to ask off fourm.

Thanks Dave,

Also thanks for providing some information for all concerned. Again, though, Im not all that worried. Anyone cracks into my computer, all they are going to find are pictures of sexy E units, voluptuous Vista Domes, Gorgeous SD45s, and bodacious Challengers. My be a Starship Enterprise or two. But nothing that any cracker would find useful, or any concievable government agency would find offensive.

Well,

I hate to put some rain on the parade. The worst case scenario is a person using real life information to target break ins to steal valuable hobby material. (Brass etc)

I would not worry about forum related security issues. Any decent investigator will find out all they need to know about anyone in about a hour's work.

However, I encourage to keep credit cards, ssn's locations etc and information that can be used in a "Identity Theft" off the internet and keep a firewall and antivirus on your computer and update it religiously.

I have tried other forums and found some to be frankly not supportive of people and individual opinions. MR Forums has proven to be very "family" full of tribal knowledge which may not see light of day otherwise.

Good Luck all.

This last paragraph is exactly the kind of material that "BIG BROTHER" will make a note of under your file ID. In this day and age, people with high tech jobs had better do all they can to shield their true ID from anyone and everyone on the internet. EASTCOAST and KRUMP are totally correct. Sorry but I really think you've understated the determination that Uncle Sam has to keep tabs and notes on ever citizen in this country. Everything that you say on here or anywhere else on the web that they can link to a real person, they will. Please believe me, I know...

I almost have all my profile filled out. Not that it bothers me. I might get a picture soon. I'm not afraid of sharing my email. But GC's profile deserves to be called a profile of the month. But remember, more people look at your posts, not your profile.
Have a nice day now, and feel free to check out my profile.[:p]

I post dilligently and frequently.

Thanks alaska man for your kind words.

As for the paragraph thats causing all the ruckass with Mr. Emeraldisle. "Plus, you don't know people from Wyoming very well. Every person comes equiped with a couple dozen firearms and several home made artilary pieces. I dare somebody (Osama?) to try some funny business."

The statement about the guns is true, Between me, my dad, my mom, and my two brothers, there are a total of around two dozen firearms in the Mitich Houshold. All of which are neccissary because Wyoming is still the wild west contrary to many peoples opinions and there have been a few instances that I have known where friends of mine have had to stare down ma ma grizzly to get breakfast. Another thing the Government doesn't like the forest service to admit. Humans are on the dinner menue. So firearmes in Wyoming are quite literally a defensive tool.

As for the rest, If the goverment doesn't want us to have that stuff, then they need to repeal both the second and ninth amendments, (Doubtful) severely restrict the information on educational programing, (Discovery Chanels. TLC, PBS, ect) as that is where I get most of the information to do the things I do, (which would then be a first amendment violation) They also need to cut back high school chemistry classes to aless knowlegable level becasue once I get the piece made, I now know how to make it go boom.

If the government doesn't like their citizens knowing how to use, build, and otherwise knowthings, They should do a little bit better job on cracking down the information source. Besides Uncle Sam, has nothing to worry from me, as my militia group I belong to is Pro US government, and as cool as P-51s are, an F-15 or F-22 would make short work of them.

Thanks again. James
