Static grass vs. wood

I would color the wood with green paint or paint that looks like earth. I prefer when covering bare wood to paint it with green without caring to much how much gets coated. let that dry then spray with glue and water mixture and use th static grass.

The wood will show through the green paint and make it look likie bare ground.

i have a very light colored laminated wood baseboard. will some glue and static grass be ok or will i have to do something else to stop the wood showing through?
