If you're serious, you'll need a plan. Have you talked to Kalmbach to see if they have any interest to begin with? Where is the capital going to come from for this project? Also, who will edit it? Reviewers? And, as SilverSpike mentioned, will you pay contributers royalties from the book sales? I'm currently in the academic world and am involved in the publishing of my advisor's textbook on mesoscale wave dynamics, and I can tell you publishing is a VERY BIG project not to be entered into lightly. Of course, I've bit on your bait hook, line, and sinker. Boy am I a sucker!!!

That is a noble endeavor, and one that will require a lot of effort on your part.

I have a few questions before I consider making a contribution.

Can you give us an outline of your proposed book? I know you mentioned comics, photos, and tips and such, but do you have an organized list of how the material will be presented?

Do you have a publisher lined up, or is this a private publication?

Also, do contributors have rights to their material? And are they paid for their material submissions?

Thanks,

Ryan

That's right, I'm writing another book, but I need your help. The book is called The Best of Model Railroading. The book is a photo album with photos, comics, and tips. Here are the requirements:

1.    Photos must be no smaller than 3'' by 3''

2.          Photos must have your name, the title, the ''situation'', and the name of the layout that was used.

3.          Pics from a personal layout can only take up 5 pages [with 2 large photos]. Pics from a club layout can only take up 10 pages [with 4 large photos].

4.          Tips must have your name and the title.

5.          Comics must have your name [comic no smaller than 3" by 3"].

Please send them to djmwushere@yahoo.com

Thanks!!!!
