Hello, I am looking for some info on Athearn Genesis F7's and the Brightness of their Headlights with Sound and DCC vs Non Sound. My sound equipped Genesis F7 appears to have very dimly lit bulbs. On my non sound straight DC and then converted with a TSC decoder with 1,5 volt regulator, the bulbs appear much brighter. Has any one had this same problem? Any ideas?

Thanks

George

Many complained to Athearn about the units burning out the bulbs in just a few hours.  I actually ran one on a test track for less than five minutes and lost one of the bulbs.    The sound units solved the problem by using a bulb that is so dim they can hardly be seen.  I am not sure if the bulb is a higher rated voltage, or the voltage is less from the DCC driver, but they do not burn out any longer.

This is Athearn's and MRC's way of solving problems.
