Poly s makes a decal and paint remover that works pretty well. Apply it with a q-tip and let it sit about 30 minutes or until the paint starts to crinkle then wipe the old paint off. Be sure to wash the model in warm soapy water before applying fresh paint. (DO NOT USE the commercial paint strippers sold at most hardware stores. It will destroy the plastic.)  You may consider to use a primer before repainting, especially if the color is red or yellow.

Screwed up the paint job on my RPP SD90MAC
Posted by Mikeymbca on Friday, December 22, 2006 9:12 AM

I kinda screwed up the CP paint job on my RPP SD90MAC shell. I was using the wrong type of masking tape, and got some pretty bad runs of black onto the reds. Fortunately, I was using Modelflex acryllics and was able to remove most of the paint by applying thinner with a brush, and then wiping it with a cotton cloth after about 3-5 minutes. However, this seems to have softened the cemented joints between the parts, and actually has caused a few of them to let go. I'm also having trouble getting the paint out of the nooks and crannies. Is there something that I can soak it in to loosen the remaining paint without damaging the shell, or completely loosening the parts?

Thanks,

Mike
