My first brass engine (CNJ GP40P)
Posted by ElectricMotive on Tuesday, December 12, 2006 12:05 PM

When Overland released the GP40P models, it was before I was into trains/modelling, so I missed out. More recently, I've become a model railroader and developed an (unhealthy?) obsession with certain engines, among them, the unique GP40P (only thirteen of the real thing were ever made). I'd been watching eBay for one to pop up for a while, and the first I saw one, I wasn't able to afford it. A few weeks go, another came up, and this time I took the plunge:

(I apologize for the quality of the photo; I don't have layout to shoot it on, and my attempt at an impromptu photo studio last night met with less-than-stellar results. I haven't had a chance to 'shop the image yet, either.)

I haven't had a chance to try running the engine yet, but I plan to have it as mostly a display piece anyway. There's little else like finally getting to own that engine you always wanted!

Congrats.  I understand completely.  I have been coveting a brass big boy in N scale for many years, but have as yet not bought one.  I hope you enjoy it.
