I think the new Rivarrosi Big Boy may be smoke compatible. Why not check www.internettrains.com or another model web site. They should have the required info.

Thanks cacole, I guess that that answers my question. No smoke.

I own 2 Rivarossi Big Boy locomotives and neither one of them were DCC ready and are not made to accept a smoke generator, either. There are supposedly newer models of Rivarossi being released that are made differently than the ones you and I own, but whether or not they will accept a smoke generator is doubtful since they are still going to be plastic models. The basic problem is that a Seuthe smoke generator gets hot enough to melt plastic, and I know of no way to isolate the Rivarossi boiler from the smoke generator sufficiently to keep it from melting.

Rivarossi 'Big Boy'

I was lucky enough to have been given a Rivarossi 'Big Boy' R5472 for my birthday but the paperwork with it was extremely limited. What I want to know is, can this unit be fitted with smoke generators. I had a Large Marklin unit that took Seuthe units in the smoke stacks and I wonder if this is the same. Any help will be gratefully received.
