HO Scale Bags

Ahem,

Spent 20 minutes acting as a 5 year old with roseart's fun dough (Aka playdoh clay etc etc)

I rolled em down into strips about 3 scale foot across and 6 feet sections. When I was finished I had about 50 HO scale grain, feed, etc bags drying on the table.

I intend to paint these brown, however I am stumped by the fault cracks forming on some of the bags that have not been "mixed" properly.

I would like recommendations on what to use to fill these cracks. I probably will set one or two out for the HO scale birds at the grainery.

What is the ratio of good to bad? If only a few of the 50 are cracked, why worry? It seems a pretty inexpensive solution, even when you consider "throwaways".

If you need to fill them in order to make it economical, how about a mix of baking soda and CA (crazy glue).? This is what is recommended for filling voids in resin kits. Just pack in the baking soda, and then soak it with liquid (not gel) CA. Might take the paint a little differently though...

It seems like about 12 of 50 are cracked. I figure this stuff is so cheap I'll make a few more bags. I think what is happened is that you compress the material to make a good mix before rolling and perhaps it may have rolled too hard in spots.

I sound like my wife making cake. he he he. Let's see I will experiment with your CA solution. Or go down to the walmart and buy some more clay. There are going to be 50 bags more or less. Perhaps it is nice to plan placement of bags etc

To take it one step further I may apply different colors to differentate the bags.

Years ago there was a cheap way of making bags in MR that I believe used brass tubing and crimping the ends with wire cutters to make the top and bottom of the bag. You need a heavy pair of wire cutters to do it like linesmans pliars.
