Tyco Floodlight Car

some toys still serve the purpose they were meant for. I did research and actually found that a car like this was used by tunnelers for a short period, as rescue illumination until the medics came to the fallen areas, than the car became useless.

Little children love these Tyco light cars. I bought one for my children years ago and recently bought another one on ebay for grandchildren.

I have the exact same car. Given to me by my Father(im 15). I don't normally run it, except for the ocasional maintenace train.

I was thinking that the whole idea of a floodlight car was silly, how the light was tied to track voltage, and how there was no way to move the light while the train was using. Then I thought that the mighty Pennsylvania never had a car that even looked like it. And just before I was ready to put it on Ebay, I had a brainstorm. I was having problems seeing my centerline cleaner car in the darker areas of the layout, so I thought that it would be nice to put some more light on it.

Light, huh?

The floodlight car has "Maintenance" written on it. Now the old Tyco floodlight car has a purpose and a valuable member of the track cleaning train. I see that there may be some value in keep a few toys around the layout.
