Computer Apps for DCC
Posted by Anonymous on Monday, October 13, 2003 12:34 PM
Wanted to get some input from list members on their expereinces with computer software products for dcc operations. There are about a half dozen out there including PR1 and Winlok. Have any of those apps made your opertion of dcc more enjoyable? less enjoyable? More bother than they are worth? Very useful?
Really looking for some good insight as I now have a computer that I can dedicate to railroad use.

Hi John.

I use Zimo DCC with STP software. In short: very enjoyable!
Among many other advantages, it gives me full automatic, semi automatic and manual operation or any mix. Full control is maintained over every loco and all functions, even in stop sections! Every train is located on screen so getting a particular train out of my four hidden station doesn't rquire a trip around the layout anymore. Short circuits are identified on screen. I don't have to remember addresses for loco's, turnouts, signals, routes etc.
If you want to check it out, you can read about it's special features here: http://www.mrsonline.net/html/zimo_difference.html or go to Zimo's web site: http://w3.zimo.at/web2003/index2E.htm

Have fun,
Art
