Hi all...I have a question about switches. I've heard bad things about the "Snap Switches" and that they are too sharp. I went out and bought some..so hopefully I can still use them, and I haven't seen any other types of switches with numbers. Will they handle a six axle loco? I just want them for yard and industry switching, not high speed transfers...

Atlas Snap Switches are 18" Radius in HO. Strictly not recommened for six axle diesels. Some will handle them without problems; others will not.

NMRA's RP 11 recommends no 6 switches for 6 wheel truck diesels 60' long and a minimum radius of 26.5" . Longer diesels require greater radius. As noted above, individual manufacturers' diesels may run on tighter curves. You may be able to modify yours although coupler swing for body mounted couplers may be a problem. Most hobby shops carry no 6 switches by Atlas and others. Your best bet is probably to use the snap switches for sidings and branchlines with short 4 wheel truck diesels. You can also switch a siding on the snap switch using idler cars so your diesel does't have to run over the curved leg of the switch.
