DC or DCC
Posted by ShaunCN on Wednesday, October 1, 2003 3:46 PM
hi I am running my first 4x8 model railroad with DC control and was wondering if I get a biger power pack that I can have multi unit lashups. I have same locos that run fine together but they put to much of a load on the power pack. I did not want to go out and buy DCC and rip out all of my DC control if I don't have to.

Sure, 1/2 amp per loco is plenty. FRED

I have always been big on the MRC controllers for DC operations if you have few locos and would like to run 4-6 at a time it will handle it. I have done it with the less expensive Tech II controllers with no problems on my 12X33' layout. I don't know about there new stuff but my guess is it has only gotten better, I transferred to Digitrax DCC system. I would really look into the Tech 4 280 you get two controllers in one and SMOOTH SLOW SPEED is there trade mark, and they have an excellent upper end speed too.
