It has been a couple of years since I assembled the kit - but it is not that difficult.  I have another to assemble.

Yes - unless you have very large radii curves you will want to use the longer of the two types of hitches supplied with the kit.  I run 30" radii and had to use the long hitches.   Also for clearance issues you may want to leave the rear cross bar (rear bumper type of bar) uninstalled on the roadrailers that make up the middle of the train, or only install it on the last roadrailer in the train.  This is the only one that is really visible.

As far as the couplers -you can use any coupler you choose.  you will need to purchase a couplermate (optional purchase is the bowser couplermate rails \ steps- or you can go with Plano etched metal rails.)- at least one per train in order to attach the first roadrailer to your locomotive or train.

Sombra,

Thanks for sharing your layout photo with the Roadrailers. And your first post too, I am honored! Welcome to the MR Forum!

Have you had any derailment issues with the modeled Roadrailers?

Custom set I'm working on - will be 22 cars when I'm done.

I see you have the Cornerstone intermodal crane kit.  How difficult was it to put together ?  I bought one, opened the box and thought "what a bunch of small parts".

Triple Crown Roadrailers Research & Anyone modeling the prototype?

I am fascinated with the Norfolk Southern and the BNSF currently using the Triple Crown Roadrailer bi-modal system and I am wondering if anyone has modeled or runs this type of system on their layout. I have also found some discussion in the Railroader forums about prototype operations.

I am just curious about anyone who might be modeling this type of system and would like to know how you incorporated it into your layout, because I am considering modeling a Triple Crown Railroader on my Norfolk Southern layout.

I do notice on the Bowser web site that photos show them with what appear to be horn hook couplers, I am wondering if they can be modified to accept Kadee couplers?
