What is evident to me is that she has, at the very least, a well-developed sense of humour.  Also, she has an open mind, and loves you enough to do things out of the ordinary.  People who stick too close to the rules, whatever they may be, are often a long trip to a staid and miserable existence if you have a relationship with them.

I echo the other posters who feel that she is one heckuva lady if she agreed to the train-around-the wedding cake theme.  I say this because I have come to realize that there seems to be no worse a geek than a model railroader in some very large circles.  Your new bride does not think so, and is confident enough in her choice of mates to defy that type of sentiment in onlookers.  Bully for her!!!!

Congratulations, and give her a tight squeeze from all of us who would appreciate her support and dedication.

Canadian Shield : Congratulations to you and your lovely bride....may you have a long and happy life together with several little engineers to assist you. My wife and I have been married for 46 years, and she supports my hobby with interest and some great ideas too.

Congratulations !

Pardon me for saying this; but if you got married on Saturday, what are you doing on the Forums Monday morning ?  Is the wife giving you a few minutes to recuperate ?  Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

All kidding aside, I wish you both a long, happy, healthy and train-filled life together.

My Girlfreind has just banned me from talking about marriages and weddings for the next three weeks.

She has to be a Bridesmaid at a wedding and It has me thinking about the topic alot. Apparently abit to much.

I am hoping for the new Silver Vista car on the tail end of the Durango and Silverton. But She says she doesn't like the looks so I just might have to settle for an old caboose some place.

CanadianShield, congratulations on the wedding.  Looks like you got a keeper if she will let you play with trains. Wink [;)]  My late wife never really liked the fact that I was a model Railroader, but finally decided that it was a lot better than hanging out in bars........... I could do just about anything with the model railroad I wanted as long as it didn't involve spending any money. LOL

Good Luck!  May you have a long and happy life together.

Hey Canadian Shield,

Great pictures and I'd like to extend congratulations to you and your wife.

I'm old enough to be your grandfather and want to share some insight I've gained.  My first wife complained for 20 years that I "smothered" her because I wanted to spend all my time with her.  Heck, when I collected stamps, I dragged the poor woman to stamp shows.  How boring that must have been for a "non-stamp collector" person.

Anyway, keep up your hobby and realize that you and your wife need quality time together and separate time also, where you each spend time on your interests.  Hopefully your wife will continue to realize that model railroading is a perfect opportunity for you to enjoy your "away" time from her.  I'd bet that if you both keep the right balance of time together and apart, it will greatly contribute to a successful marriage.

Oh, by the way, I've been married to my second wife for 13 years and the hobby has been a major factor in maintaining harmony.

Good luck again,

Mondo

WOW - to be able to get away with that is awesome!   Usually weddings are all about the bride, the groom sort of tags along!

Never seen anything near that, and I used to photograph weddings!

Congratulations - looks like your bride is a keeper!

For my 200th post on the forum, a big congratulations!

Any woman who tolerates a model railroader is a good woman, as my GF also is. Just keep reminding the bride that if she keeps you in the train room, she'll always know where you're at -- and that you can't (usually) get into too much trouble there.
