This isn't exactly train related but had to ask. Anyone on here, in the path of this MONSTER? I checked the latest this AM and the National Hurricane Center is forecasting a landfall somewhere between North Carolina and New Jersy. Hope none of you good folks are at ground zero for this storm. If you are, our hopes and prayers are with you and yours for a safe outcome..........D.

How many model railroads get washed out by basement floods? Check out the sump pump with the battery backup. Please be careful and safe!

As the storm begins to move in toward North Carolina, we should all be thankful that it isn't the MONSTER that it was, still however, it has the potential of doing a lot of damage and affecting a lot of people. To those who are in its way tonight, stay safe, be careful, and again our hopes and prayers are with you and yours for a safe outcome.......D.

I live about 30 miles east of Raleigh, North Carolina and my parents have some property nearly sound side in Newport which is just a few miles south of where the hurricane eye is expected to come ashore. We've weathered plenty of these storms and we will this one. I hear Amtrak rail service has been interupted in North Carolina and I imagine Norfolk Southern's line to the ports in Morehead City and Beaufort will be out service for a little while. Hopefully there won't be any fatalities, be safe out there!

you've got my prayers in British Columbia. I've got friends throughout the states, including a few in NJ. God Bless and protect.

cheers, krump

I live in northern Virginia, the center is supposed to track through here in the wee hours of Friday morning, hopefully the wind will be reduced. But we'll still get downed trees and lots of rain which will cause flooding and power outages. The federal government, local schools, etc. are closed today. I shouldn't have flooding problems but for the rest I'm hoping it's not too bad. The worst will be on the coast.

Sitting here in WV waiting to see what will happen, and grateful that I'm west of the mountains. Right now we have thickening clouds and calm winds - the action here is supposed to begin later this eveing - lots of rain and some wind.

Speaking of WV trains, EB and WB Cap and EB Cardinal have been annulled for today (at least); WB Cardinal will operate between Indianapolis and Chicago tomorrow.

Northern Virginia. I was lucky, no flooding, no power outage, no trees down. Others of course in this area lost power, had flooding, and tree damage.
Enjoy
