On my next trip to the train store, I am going to buy some better people for the obsolete man scene instead of life-like people, 4 heavyweight athearn coaches ( so I don't have to use streamlined cars) and many LED lights to add to the UFO, and building lights to light up the inner twilight zone.  I think  should have a few more Alien [alien]'s on the layout.

Is your layout idea originally based on "Stopover in a Quiet Town?"

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stopover_in_a_Quiet_Town_(The_Twilight_Zone)

And you have the diner where William Shatner keeps playing with that fortune telling machine?

Or, for that matter, the diner where the alien with 3 eyes cooks while chatting with the alien with 3 arms?

And you do have a quiet, suburban Maple Street?

Ah, I know - one of the few episodes on videotape (and it shows) - you have the used car lot where the salesguy can't tell a lie, and ends up selling a car to Kruchsev?

The downed space capsule - is that Adam and Eve near-by ready to start a new civilization?

Or just an experiment in solitary confinement to see if an astronaut can survive long periods in space alone?

Finally, if you live in a remote farmhouse somewhere, make sure the little tiny aliens from the UFO don't attack your wife with a giant carving knive...oh wait, the wife is an alien, the tiny aliens are human...  (my favorite episode)

(one thing - if you are going to model Elizabeth Montgomery as seen in "Two", make sure she's wearing the advanced protective fighting uniform of a tight blouse, short mini-skirt, and leather boots)

That's a great layout idea. Twilight Zone has to be one of the best shows of all time. Well written, and mostly well acted, and lots of well-know actors, too. OK so the one who played the mother in "Little Girl Lost" obviously went to the William Shatner School of Overacting, but hey...

Man, that's one of my favorite episodes. Great ideas there!

Sounds great. One of my favorite epsiodes is the one where after a huge war the last two people left on earth are two soldiers played by Charles Bronson and Elizabeth Montgomery.

Sounds like a really cool way to combine two interests.  My memory is a little "obsolete" and my copy of the TWZ Companion is in storage, but here's a few more ideas:

How about a half demolished library with Burgess Meredith sitting out front on the steps, with or without his glasses?

How about a G-scale figure scaring the hell out of woman and a state trooper at a little cottage?  A hard-hat diver figure would be good for the big Alien, and don't forget to put a fingerprint on the police car.

For a gentle touch, have a blonde policeman leading an elderly woman from an old apartment building.  This is the episode with Robert Redford (Mr. Death) and Mdme. Schildkraut .

You might want to add a chunky Andy Devine character and harmonica sound effects to the UFO scene so it can cover 3 or 4 different episodes.

Have fun!

Twilight zone train layout

Well, now that I have the train names down, and the city name from the twilight zone, here is a description of my layout. Trains 7&8, "The rod serling" pass through town everyday. The town is willoughby (from the episode, "a stop at willoughby") On a hill near town, I have a walthers UFO with alien figures, and I have a plane hanging above the layout (A boeing 707) with a creature on the wing. ( nightmare at 20,000 feet).  In the middle of town, is a man surrounded by 5 or 6 people. ( the obsolete man). Hows this for a layout? Evil [}:)]
