Being a Prodigy user you will get no complaints from me. The capacitor issue does not apply to DCC equipped locos to my knowledge. Only to the DCC ready models.
I would suspect looking at the individual engine that is not up to snuff. Maybe one of the shafts is disconnected causing the poor performance.
If you still have issues try looking on Baachmanns web site. If you click on the EZ command button on the bottom of the page you can find the decoder instructions for the DCC equipped models. With the Prodigy you can adjust the start voltage etc to see if it corrects speed issues.

I have seen bits and peices of info that I am looking for.
To set the stage for my questions
Prodigy express dcc, with add on advnace throttle.
two bachmann gp 40's that were dcc equipped out of the box. you know the cheap ones. Love them though
then we have two bachmann spextrum that came dcc equipped.
got a sd45 and a dash 8. for the most part they run fine. but the sd45 does not run all that fast.
i have heard some talk on the choke coils and capicitors on the motor for motor noise.
I wondered if anyone out there can talk to me more about it, maybe make it run a bit better.
I am not all to interested in getting schooled on the PE, I know it is limitations, but i like it, and the two cheap gp 40s run great and fast.
Thanks
Reeves
