Didn't the DSX come with instructions on programming the chuff rate, bell ring rate, etc.? There are CVs that can be programmed to change the sound effects to suit the locomotive. Instead of trying to add a DSX to an existing decoder, I always just use a digital sound decoder (DSD), which includes a decoder and sound all in one. This way, you don't have to fool around with different addresses. If you purchased the DSX used and didn't get documentation with it, you can download the instructions from the SoundTraxx Web site. It should be possible to give the Digitrax decoder and DSX the same address instead of having to set them up as a consist. Put the loco on your programming track, and re-program the address -- this should change both decoders simultaneously.

Installed dsx sound in HO scale IHC 4-4-0 along with digitrax dn121 dcc. Hardwired. It works if each decoder given separate address and run as consist. How can I use the same address for each decoder? I can't get the sound to match the loco. Or even come close? I put on/off switch for dsx under tender. My other locos are pnp. Thanks
