Z-gaugers drink micro-brews...[:p]

Funny thread, some with more of a sense of humor than others...

Yikes! Personally I dont own anything even close to that! You'll most likely see me at a trainshow or working on my layout in shorts and a Tshirt, I own *one* train oriented shirt, and it was a gift....

No aurgument on the Trekkies, [;)]
We get the Big Kahuna of Trek shows every year here in Pasadena, when the streets are filled with roaming Klingons and stray Vulcans looking for a place to eat at...I went to one show out of curiosity, I quite literally only lasted 15 minutes before I was racing for the exits!

Oh well, next stop... Nutsville![:D]

These ads are for radio only, I believe. Don't think the concept would work on tv. Some of them are clever, especially the "Nosebleed ticket section holder" one. I can laugh at myself too, but thought the miniature train modeler one went a bit far. My friends loved it though.

Thanks for the welcome SilverSpike. Just tried to come up with something interesting and creative for a name. My Grandpa (RIP) was named Sam. So when my wife and I saw that movie about the Son Of Sam a few years back it dawned on me that indeed I am the Grandson Of Sam. No relation to the real Son Of Sam of course and don't mean to make light of the seriousness of his offenses in any way. But I'm a lot like my Grandpa so it just seemed to fit. And I was born in Nutsville, attended school in Nutsville, go to church in Nutsville, live in Nutsville and will probably be buried in Nutsville. But it's a cool place - everyone here has a great sense of humor.

A friend of mine works in the radio business at a station that has played the real Bud Lite spots and he doesn't think this was a "real" commercial... He mentioned that there are two guys who have a smaller ad agency that impressed Budweiser with the humorous commercials but that they also make what you could call spoofs of their own work for the sake of comedy. He said they were on the syndicated "Bob And Tom" morning show about a month ago with some other funny stuff they had done.

So for those of you who didn't find it funny, it sounds like it isn't part of a national campaign or anything. If you are wondering if I thought it was funny, check out where I live...I might even run for mayor of my town. And Jeff ~ LOL on the step up from Survivor to commercials!

[#welcome] to the MR Forum, Mr Grandson of Sam! [?]

I was wondering if that spot actually made the air waves.

Oh and uh......you got an interesting profile name too! [:-^] What caused you to come up with that [8] name?

So you're from nutsville huh....

That commercial is not too bad. I like some of the other "Real Men of Genius" Bud commercials.

BUT, to go from "Eye of the Tiger" to "Real Men of Genius" is quite a downturn. The guy who sings on those commercials is David Bickler, former lead singer of Survivor, who won a grammy for Eye of the Tiger back in 1982. However, doing radio jingles is nothing new for David Bickler since did a Kentucky Fried Chicken commercial back in 1973.

So, while watching Rocky III, open up sone Budweiser to go with your KFC and ya got it made[:p][:D]

Take care,

Russell

I think going from Survivor to doing beer jingles is a major step up.[:D]

Jeff

Hmmm..not sure if he would win any awards for those jingles [:)]

Russell

Grammies ain't nuthin'. They're almost as common as a$$holes. Heck, MILLI VANILLI won a Grammy...[:p] LOL

Jeff
P.S. But I DO understand your point.[:D]

Okay, finally saw it--cute. Didn't upset me or anything (though I think the current Bacardi "MOJITO" commercial is a lot better).
Of course, EVERYONE knows that Beer was invented on New Years Eve, by the ancient Sumerians in the year 6000BC. Of course it took the Germans, Austrians, Danes, Dutch, Czechs and Belgians to turn brewing into an Art Form. Beleive me, America has still got a LOT of catching up to do.
But what bothers me is that a good old German name like BUDWEISER could somehow screw the formula up so BADLY! Hasn't anyone told them that the word "BIER" does NOT translate into English as "Sandpaper?"

G,day, Y'all,
You know what politicians say to newspaper reporters? "I don't care what you say about me, just spell my name right." That's the same thing we should be thinking about the commercial. Personally, I'll drink any beer someone else buys. I don't have the money for a second hobby.

There was an episode of Third Rock From the Sun. The leader of the group, *** (John Lithgow - ?), for some reason, takes up model railroading. They portray him as withdrawn, lonely, weird, etc. I remember him sitting there with an engineer's cap on ..... getting really upset because he can't find some little detail part to complete his scene on the railroad. It was really funny.

I admit this is somewhat of a peculiar hobby. I do not know anyone else that does it. Strangers that see my little layout are interested only because it is so intense ..... there is a lot going on in a small place ...... with DCC switchers with sound running very close to each other in a small area. Their interest doesn't usually last that long. And that's ok with me.

I have that mutated gene in me that draws me to all things railroads and railroading.

I've been called "Elmer Fudd" when I go out duck hunting.

I've been called a "gun nut" when i spend time at the range.

Life is too short to worry about what other people think. Laugh it off.

Greg (and I think I'll get one of those ice cold Bud's out of the fridge right now!)

Takes too long to download on dial-up--at least my computer. Just have to catch it on TV, or something.
