Remember: the minimum radius a large steam loco will operate on is one thing.
The minimum radius it can be coupled to a car is another -- if there is big overhang at the back of the tender.

My Marklin 2-6-8-2 definitely handles 18 inch radius so I suspect that any of the German or Austrian made Big Boys will do the same.

My 97/98 model expo Rivarossi catalog does not specify radius limitations but I suspect
the BB will operate on 18"
My 2-6-6-6 Riv Allegheny could operate down to 16" per MR Feb 02 review but I use 22"

Thanks, The PAPER with the engine states that it REQUIRES a 31.5" Min Radius. I am still researching more on my own.

SURPRISED!

The Trix Big Boy, HO scale, 3pounds, 3 ounces will handle 18" with considerable overhang according to MR April 02.

Can't find my Riv HO infor right now.

Purchaed the BIG BOY from Rivarossi and it says that ou MUST HAVE 31.5" Radius Curves. Is this based on LOOKS or will it DERAIL on less. Was designing for 30 to 36" VISABLE with 24 to 28" hidden. If I git to go 31.5 or greater then I have a space problem.
