They were shipped from Houston and have just arrived.

I'll be taking a break from this most likely for a few months. So in the words of Neil Diamond "Long gone baby is what I'm gonna be, long gone pack up and save my soul."

I think Houston because it is on the other side of the Pacific from China, so it would be easier then sailing an extra 8000 miles to Boston!

Houston is also on the other side of Mexico from the Pacific Ocean, and the comparative distance, Panama-Houston versus Panama-Boston, is a lot less than 7000 miles.

As to why not a West Coast port, I'd say that it's probable that everyone involved ran a cost analysis and then took the least expensive option.

Woops! My bad, I meant to say Portland! [banghead]

but wouldn't it be easier to ship it to a western port and have it go over land and not through the panama canal?

Houston. The QJ's are going to the Iowa Interstate.

It's really kind of hard to support your local hobby shop when the nearest hobby shop that's worth the name is a 150 mile roundtrip.

It's going to the Iowa Interstate RR, so I'd suspect Seattle or Houston.
